End of availability for classic Microsoft Teams client

A new and improved Microsoft Teams client, designed to be faster, smarter, and simpler to use, is in the process of being deployed to all Microsoft Office 365 Teams users. This rollout involves installing the new Teams client for users who still have the classic Teams client, with Microsoft aiming to uninstall the classic Teams client 14 days after the installation of new Teams.

The date for this transition is 01 July 2024. The new version of Teams is packed with enhanced features, additional security measures and improved performance metrics.

If you would like to make the change prior to the proposed transition date follow the steps highlighted below.

1. Open the Teams desktop app on your Windows device.
2. Turn on the Try the new Teams toggle at the top-right of Teams
   
3. Select “Get it now” from the pop-out dialogue.
   
   
   
4. Your Teams app will restart and open the new Teams.
